APS Ambassador Program

The Mission
The ambassador’s mission is to bridge the gap between the chapter and the APS.

An ambassador:

Is visible and vocal about society services and benefits and represents the chapter at APS events.

Presents regular society updates at each club meeting.

Is a messenger of ideas and feedback to APS staff and leadership.

Facilitates annual chapter reporting.

Helps identify opportunities to grow the hobby and the society.

The program is designed to:

Increase APS membership.

Increase two-way communication with APS chapters.

Provide a point person on staff at APS to answer questions and work on concerns that cannot be answered by the ambassador.

Have local clubs own a program with support from the national organization

Provide recognition for chapters that reach a set of goals.

Schedule and conduct forums for area ambassadors at national, regional and local stamp shows.

The Beginnings
Twenty-seven APS chapters were recruited to develop the details of the program and we held forums at stamp shows and meetings online for feedback. Eight more Chapters heard about what we were doing and signed on to have ambassadors. As the program evolves, we will continue to get comments and suggestions from the ambassadors around the country.

Ongoing Work
This is a great opportunity for local chapters to become more informed about the hobby and the APS. The Ambassador Program will provide a more grass-roots approach to branding the hobby and getting it out to the public. Here is some of what is planned:

A monthly E-newsletter will provide talking points that ambassadors can use for their APS Minute at upcoming chapter meetings.

Ambassador forums scheduled at stamp shows with meeting notes sent to other ambassadors.

Periodic online meetings with ambassadors across the country.

An annual gathering of ambassadors at StampShow, the national convention of the APS held each August.
