Union Catalog How-To
How to request material from the APRL using the Philatelic Union Catalog

American Philatelic Society (APS) and American Philatelic Research Library (APRL) members can request book loans, photocopies, and scans directly from the catalog. We can only send items that we own (indicated by the APRL location code). If you would like to access material in another library, please contact that library directly.

  1. When you see an item you wish to borrow (or an article you would like a copy of), click the Add to Cart link underneath the record:

You can continue adding more items to your cart, or even do another search, and the cart will hold your items. Catalog sessions expire after 20 minutes of inactivity, and records in the cart will be lost. To avoid losing your records if you have to step away from the computer, click on the cart icon and then e-mail, download, or print your records.

  2. When you are ready to make your request, click on the cart icon at the top of the screen:

  3. You will then be able to review the contents of your cart. To continue, select “Request” from the drop-down box and click the go button:

On the next screen, enter your email, name, and address. If you have your APS or APRL membership number, include it.

You can also enter any special instructions. If you are requesting articles, please let us know if you want scans or photocopies.

You can ask us to contact you with an estimated fee for your order before sending it. We usually send books using library rate. If you would like first class or priority delivery, let us know. (You are responsible for paying additional postage.) See also: APRL services and fees
