Customize Your End of Year Giving

The APS and APRL exist thanks to the generosity of our members and the hobby. Both organizations are IRS 501c3 recognized charities and gifts of cash, stock and in-kind materials related to stamp collecting are tax deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law.

While gifts may be designated for specific programs or departments, we ask that you consider our three strategic priorities:

Library Completion

The Library’s exterior and structural renovations are complete. We need $1.8 million to finish the Library which includes interior build out and all furnishings. Features includes high density compact shelving, a secure rare book room, installation of an elevator for easy access between floors, research and study carrels, reading lounges, a book and gift shop, an archives room, an energy efficient geothermal heating and cooling system, volunteer work space, and adjacent bathrooms. Finishing this space will bring the library and annex together into one area allowing staff to more efficiently serve patrons thousands of miles from Bellefonte as well as individuals able to travel here.

Rapid changes pose challenges for the APS, APRL and other companies to stay current with technological advances. Recent issues of The American Philatelist and Philatelic Literature Review have been made available in digital format, but we would like to make the entire 125 year run of the AP available in a searchable digital format. The website and the AP should also be available in a mobile device friendly format.

We want to develop mobile applications for individuals to check the event schedule, locate exhibits and find their favorite dealers at APS shows. We have digitized a few books in the Library but we have a number of unique archives which need to be digitized so researchers can take advantage of them anywhere in the world. We would also like to provide server storage space for philatelic libraries and other organizations who have volunteer labor but not the dollars for long term preservation of their work.

Debt Reduction

The APS and APRL staff and boards have worked diligently to balance our operating budget without relying on donations. Our continued financial health requires paying down our $4.5 million mortgage and renovation debt.
