APS/APRL Selects Veronesi as General Contractor

At a September 13 joint meeting of the boards of the American Philatelic Society Board and American Philatelic Research Library, Veronesi Building and Remodeling, Inc. (VBR) of State College, PA was approved as the general contractor for the latest renovations to the historic Bellefonte Match Factory complex now known as the American Philatelic Center. This phase, costing more than $1.5 million, includes fitting out 7,200 square feet of tenant space for regional corporate offices for Graymont (PA) and new structural support and roof replacement for two buildings the Society eventually plans to use as Library space.

Rob Veronesi formed VBR in 1981. A Penn State student studying business economics, he began with a crew of five employees installing windows and putting up siding. In 1998 Veronesi was recognized as the Small Business of the Year by Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County. Today, VBR has 30 employees. During its 29 years VBR’s commercial division has served more than 500 clients, primarily in the Centre Region. The firm values civic responsibility, as demonstrated by Rob Veronesi’s service on three local boards and in the coordination of two major events.

The latest phase of American Philatelic Center development will be financed through a loan from First National Bank and proceeds from the estate of Bill Bauer, a past president of the American Philatelic Society.
