APS 2012 Web Award Winners

The American Philatelic Society is pleased to announce the winners in its first Chapter and Affiliates Web Awards recognizing website excellence. A total of sixteen groups participated in this inaugural competition, which was open to all APS chapter clubs, club or federation run stamp shows, and affiliates. Each site was evaluated in a variety of areas, including overall content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, and interactivity. The judges were Andrew McFarlane and Ross Towle.

All entrants received a certificate and distinctive electronic award badge to post on their site signifying their award level and competition year. The 2013 competition will be held in the spring with details available at http://www.stamps.org/cac/ and announced in the philatelic press.

Congratulations to one and all!

APS Chapter Clubs are members of the American Philatelic Society, but each is a separate organization offering its own services to its members. All that is required to form a chapter club eligible to join the more than 500 APS chapters and benefit from all the services offered in their support is a nucleus of three individual APS members and a desire to organize a local club. An online application is available at http://stamps.org/Club-Benefits.

Affiliates are societies that specialize in one particular area of interest. While they are affiliated with the APS each is a separate organization offering its own services including, in most cases, a monthly or quarterly journal. To become an APS affiliate the organization’s membership opportunities must be national in scope, it must have been in existence for at least two years, and have at least 25 dues paying members of whom at least ten must be members of the APS. Information on the more than 200 affiliates and an affiliate request form is available on the APS website at http://stamps.org/Become-a-Specialty-Society.
