Winning Exhibits at APS StampShow 2013

Attendees of the American Philatelic Society’s StampShow 2013, held August 8–11 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, were treated to a spectacular array of exhibits.

James Peter Gough won the Benjamin and Naomi Wishnietsky World Series of Philately Champion of Champions Award for his exhibit title “The UPU and Its Impact on Global Postal Services, 1875–1920.” Gough’s entry was judged the best of the thirty Grand award-winning exhibits that had been shown at a World Series of Philately or Canadian National Shows over the previous year.

The Grand Award in the Open Competition, sponsored by Alfredo Frohlich, was won by Timothy G. Wait for “U.S. Civil War Documentary Stamp Taxes 1862–1872.” The National Stamp Dealers Association's Most Popular Award went to “Apollo-Soyuz Test Project,” shown by John J. Macco.

Honors for the Single-Frame Grand Award went to “The British Development of Mauritius” by Kathryn Johnson.

The Bonnie and Rich Drews Youth Grand and a Gold medal went to “U.S. Domestic Rates for First Class Surface Postal and Post Cards Between 1873 and Today” by Annika Fillion, which also won the American Association of Philatelic Exhibitors Youth First Award.

The APS Writers Unit #30 Grand Award in the Literature competition went to Patricia A. Kaufmann, Jerry S. Palazolo, and Francis J. Crown for their handbook Confederate States of America Catalog & Handbook.

StampShow was co-sponsored by the United States Postal Service. The Best Revenue Exhibit was sponsored by Eric and Tami Jackson.
