2012 CAC Newsletter Competition and Stamp Show Program Awards

The American Philatelic Society’s Chapter Activities Committee (CAC) has announced the winners in its 2012 Newsletter and Stamp Show Program Competitions. The newsletters and show programs submitted to the competitions by APS chapters were on display at StampShow 2013.

The purpose of the annual CAC competition is to spotlight stamp club and federation newsletter editors, to acknowledge their hard work on behalf of philately, and to publicize it within the philatelic community. In addition to the awards themselves, each submission receives a judges’ critique on the newsletter’s content and format, with suggestions for possible improvements.

The 2012 newsletters were judged by a panel of three APS-accredited literature judges who are experienced editors and writers. They were David W. McNamee, Kenneth H. Trettin, and Michael D. Dixon.

Classes for the Stamp Show Program competition are: Class I — for single-page programs, Class II — multi-page and Class III includes multi-page programs from shows co-sponsored either by an APS Chapter, a state federation, World Series of Philately show, a national or international show/bourse, including those that combine stamps with other collectibles.

Judges for this competition were Patricia Walker, Danforth Walker, and Stephen Schumann.
